Article: SUPPORTERS URGE GOLF COURSE FOR HOSPITAL SITE TOWN IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH STATE OVER USE

Given little attention in recent months as local officials haggled with the state over housing plans for the former Medfield State Hospital site, a proposal to build a golf course on the property has reemerged as an alternative.

All three Medfield selectmen have indicated some interest in seeing a golf course on the state-owned property, which is expected to be sold to a private developer next year. Ann Thompson, the chairwoman of the board who has been part of ongoing negotiations with the state, said recently that she would prefer a golf course to the high number of housing units the state is proposing.
