In his corner office at Nashua City Hall, Mayor Bernie Streeter
has on display more than 400 elephants, nearly all of them with their
trunks up - a sign of good luck.
"I hope that's a good omen for election day," Streeter said during
an interview this week.
On Tuesday, Streeter faces challenges for his seat from Alderman
at Large Steve Bolton, who came in second to Streeter in the primary,
and former mayor Don Davidson, who is running a write-in campaign in
hopes of toppling the man who narrowly ousted him from office four
years ago.
The two challengers have been hammering away at Streeter on the
campaign trail using similar criticisms.
