It couldn't be a better weekend for the Battle of the Islands.
With only five games on the schedule today, all eyes will be on the
Cape, where Martha's Vineyard hosts Nantucket to decide the Mayflower
Large League title.
Nantucket (7-2, 4-0) will be looking to knock off Martha's
Vineyard (9-1, 4-0) and keep the Vineyarders from a playoff berth for
the second straight year. A win would also keep the Island Cup,
created in 1979, in Nantucket.
"These are the same kids who beat them last year, so they know the
feeling," said Nantucket coach Vito Capizzo of his large senior
class. "It's an odd situation because we have everything to gain and
everything to lose."
