Dear Beth:
I've been married for four years, and we have a 5-year-old son. My
husband has never been what I call a "family man." It has always
bothered me. I try anything I can to get him to spend some time with
our son and me.
Now my son makes comments such as: "Why doesn't Dad hang out with
us?" or "Dad just sits in the basement with his friends or goes
hunting."
My question is whether or not I should tell my husband, because
I'm certain that as far as he's concerned, there is no problem. Part
of me feels it would be unfair not to share our son's comments, but I
also don't want to start an argument or hurt my husband's feelings.
Any thoughts?
