For the record, Leonard Florence is not retiring. Despite what some may think, the 72-year-old has too much he wants to do needs to do, really.

"Everyone is telling me I'm retiring, but I'm announcing that I'm not," he says.

Florence has just stepped down as chairman of the East Boston- based Syratech Corp., a manufacturer of tabletop giftware and seasonal products. But Florence plans to devote most of his time to the philanthropic work that has been his passion for years.
