Article: Credit Suisse CEO Bearish on Mortgages, Bullish On LBOs

LONDON (HedgeWorld.com) - While the U.S. mortgage market will remain problematic perhaps through 2008, signs of improvement are already visible in the leveraged finance market as well as in the commercial mortgage-backed securities sector, said Brady Dougan, chief executive of Credit Suisse, who spoke Wednesday [Oct. 3] at a Merrill Lynch Banking and Insurance conference in London.

Regarding the U.S. housing market - also known as the residential loan sector - Mr. Dougan said Credit Suisse does not expect origination and syndication to return to recent levels any time soon. He said the sector will remain "problematic through and perhaps beyond 2008."
