The corporate officials who took off with Commerce Secretary
Ronald H. Brown to look at the prospects for helping rebuild the
war-ravaged landscape once known as Yugoslavia anticipated hard
traveling and hoped for a long-term payoff.
The chief executives and other business officials on the trip
were used to traveling internationally. They were recruited for the
trip because of their nuts-and-bolts expertise in building or
rebuilding infrastructure -- the framework of transportation,
communications, financial services and utilities on which commerce
depends.
