The legal battle that gold medalist Marion Jones promised 10 days ago if the US Anti-Doping Agency tried to ban her from track and field continued to build speed yesterday amid the favorite legal phrases of due process and reasonable doubt.

"The documents that her lawyer released don't indicate enough proof [for a ban]," said Jim Coleman, a Duke law professor with an expertise in sports and drug issues. "If you think she is guilty, then you could interpret the information that way but it's not enough. They've already done severe damage to her reputation."
