Article: Fraschilla to St. John's

Fran Fraschilla, who guided Manhattan to postseason play in each of his four seasons, is the new men's basketball coach at St. John's.

A St. John's spokesman said the school will officially announce Fraschilla's hiring today at a 3:30 p.m. news conference. Fraschilla, who openly campaigned for the job, replaces Brian Mahoney, forced to resign March 11 after the Red Storm finished 11-17 -- its worst season in 33 years. It also marked the first time St. John's had three straight non-winning seasons since 1917-20.
