The annual celebration of Earth Day last Thursday is meant to
raise environmental awareness, in part by encouraging us to consume
foods produced in an environmentally sensitive way. Several local
restaurants adopt Earth Day principles year-round by serving organic
foods and locally raised meats, fruits, and vegetables free of
hormones, antibiotics, chemical preservatives, and conventional
pesticides and fertilizers. These eco-friendly products are gentle on
the earth and what's good for the earth is usually good for our
bodies.
