The latest 37 Catholic parishes recommended for possible closing
by top church officials include the site of the only Latin Mass in
the Boston Archdiocese, the church where the Deaf Community Center is
housed, and multiple parishes in Boston, Brockton, and Salem.
The archdiocese announced yesterday that it has chosen May 25 as
the date on which Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley will notify a
substantial, but still undetermined, number of parishes that they
will be shuttered by the end of the year. O'Malley's spokesman said
the closings will be staggered in three waves, two months, four
months, and six months after the announcement.
