The National Basketball Association players who compete in
this summer's Olympic Games in Atlanta as members of "Dream Team
III" are sweating for the red, white and blue in quest of Olympic
gold. But they also are being handsomely rewarded in the color of
green.
Each of the 12 basketball players will pocket more than
$100,000 for participating on the team, a payout generated from
royalties on sales of Dream Team merchandise such as T-shirts and
hats, according to several player agents and representatives.
In addition, the truly big stars figure to earn millions more
collectively from Dream Team-related endorsements.
