When it comes to making calls, E.T. had an easier time phoning home than callers trying to reach Stoughton's Council on Aging. The council has been mired in a 10-year battle to have its correct number published in the regional telephone directory.

"We've been trying to get the problem solved for so long now we've just about given up," said Christine Quinn, the council's director for two years. "It's very, very frustrating. Nothing ever gets changed."
