Leonard Louis "Len" Kogos of Sudbury, an entrepreneur who opened the first auto parts store on Martha's Vineyard and compiled a safety book for schoolchildren after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, died Aug. 2 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York after a lengthy battle with primary amyloidosis, a rare blood disorder. He was 73.

"My dad was a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word. He could communicate with all walks of life," said his daughter Faye of Brookline. "Len was a gentlemen in his personal and business practices."
