They call it the Hollywood heart attack: Perry Mason bores into an
unsuspecting witness, accusations gathering like storm clouds. Then
suddenly, the witness clutches his chest, torso quaking, face etched
in pain.
"A lot of people wait for the classic signs and symptoms of a
heart attack, like they see on TV, before they make that call for
help," said Robert Goldberg, an epidemiologist at the University of
Massachusetts Medical School.
Waiting can prove deadly.
Even as tremendous strides have been made in cardiology with tiny
balloons clearing blockages and stainless steel scaffolds opening
vessels patients in the midst of a heart attack still wait too long
