There was a coming-out party scheduled today on Stadium Court
at the U.S. Open, where 15-year-old Anna Kournikova -- one of the
brightest hopes for the future of women's tennis -- was to play the
first match of her brief career against the game's reigning queen,
Steffi Graf.

With a lot of pouting and a little racket throwing, Sweden's
Martina Hingis shocked No. 3 Arantxa Sanchez Vicario with a 6-1,
3-6, 6-4 victory in a match played just four weeks shy of Hingis's
