IN READING the Feb. 17 front-page story "Personal pleas ring at
stem cell hearing," I wondered why there is no mention of adult stem
cell research, the alternative to embryonic stem cell research.
Adult stem cell research is evidently being ignored for some
reason, when in fact it has already demonstrated success in the
treatment of more than 80 diseases such as acute leukemia, chronic
leukemia and Hodgkin's disease, and is being tested in more than 250
human clinical trials (listed at ClinicalTrials.gov, a National
Institute of Health site).
