Q. I started a new job as a quality assurance engineer two
months ago. I was hired on a temporary basis and have been given
fantastic feedback from my manager. The problem: T he company has
demoted a few employees in my department and cut their salaries.
Also, my placement agency inadvertently told me what it is paying the
company. How can I negotiate the terms of my salary, knowing all of
this information?
A.Focus on negotiating an equitable salary package based on
the following:
Your background, experience, and education.
Your accomplishments on the job.
Your past salary history.
What comparable quality assurance engineering positions pay at
other companies.
