The auction world's first-ever auction devoted solely to New York Late Classical furniture of the 1830s and '40s will be held by Northeast Auctions next Sunday noon during its three-day weekend sale at the Radisson Hotel, Center of New Hampshire, Manchester.

It will feature the 58-lot collection of Richard and Beverly Kelly with its emphasis on furniture by the Scottish-born cabinetmaker Duncan Phyfe and his New York contemporaries.

Highlighting the collection is a mahogany cylinder desk and bookcase attributed to Phyfe and that is related to similar examples at the Metropolitan Museum, the White House, and the Boston Athenaeum. The estimate is $55,000-$75,000. A rare example of a form ...
