PLYMOUTH, Vt. Gus Fleites, who heads an investment firm and lives
in Hingham with his wife, Mylene, and their three children, is a big
fan of Southern Vermont. A few years ago, the family began renting
here at Hawk Mountain Lake Resort so they could ski nearby. Then they
bought a condo at the resort. Now they're having a five-bedroom home
built.
"It's almost year-round now," said Fleites, 39, explaining that
his Vermont vacations are no longer limited to cold months. "There's
plenty to do in the summer. The fall is great. And it's off the
beaten path. You don't get the crowds."'
With Memorial weekend just two weeks away, people are focusing on
vacation homes at a time when sales are surging ...
