Article: COMPUTER ASSOCIATES TO BUY 2D MASS. FIRM N.Y. COMPANY WILL PAY $350 MILLION TO GET CONCORD COMMUNITCATIONS

In its second Massachusetts acquisition in the past six months, Computer Associates International Inc. yesterday said it has agreed to buy Concord Communications Inc. of Marlborough for $350 million.

Concord has about 640 employees worldwide, including about 250 at its Marlborough base. The company sells software to businesses enabling their technicians to manage switches, routers, and other devices on their computer networks. With the acquisition, Computer Associates will have roughly 800 employees west of Boston, its second largest American cluster, after its Islandia, N.Y., headquarters.
