A D.C. police officer who failed to file a missing person report
on a Ballou High School student who was later found dead has been
notified that the department plans to fire her.
Officer Lynette A. Collins, of the 7th Police District, is
accused of failing to complete and submit a missing person report in
the case of 15-year-old Nicheshia Semple. A notice of proposed
"adverse action," sent to Collins on July 18, also says that Collins
tried to cover up her actions by backdating the report she
eventually filed.
Collins, who has challenged the action, is to appear next week
at a hearing before a three-member panel of police officials who
will hear testimony from both sides and decide ...
