Fidelity Investments shuffled its management team yesterday, reassigning the daughter of and heir apparent to chairman Edward C. Johnson III from her role as head of its investment subsidiary to president of another unit providing retirement products and other services to millions of customers.

The mutual-funds giant said Abigail P. Johnson, 43, who had served as president of Fidelity Management and Research, was appointed to the same position at Fidelity Employer Services Co., effective immediately.
