On Moody Street, usually a haven for affordable ethnic cuisine,
there's a new kid in town. It's Tempo, an upscale American bistro
that packs in crowds with its live music, hip bar scene, and fanciful
food.
Even on Wednesdays, parties of four may wait a half-hour or longer
without a reservation. The menu features coveted ingredients such as
kobe beef and white truffle oil, and the prices are some of the
highest found in Waltham, with most entrees costing upward of $20.
Tempo, which opened several months ago, constantly strives to be
different from its red-pepper cannellini bean spread (instead of
hummus) for the bread to its buttermilk blue-cheese dipping sauce
