But Governor Mitt Romney's decision not to seek reelection bestows unusual power and political opportunity on his lieutenant governor, Kerry Healey.

And Romney's decision will create one of the more interesting situations in the corner office in recent Massachusetts history.

The man who holds the title of governor is expected to spend much of his time out of state and much of his energy on national politics. The woman who does not hold the title, but would like to eventually, has a unique chance to elevate her profile with the Massachusetts electorate.
