If a cap on property taxes is repealed by Prince George's
voters in November, Judy Robinson says, she will be forced to leave
the county she's called home for 33 years: "I will be putting my
house on the market. I won't have any choice."
But where would she go?
If Robinson, one of the leaders of an anti-tax movement in
Prince George's, were to buy a similar house in many of the nearby
suburban jurisdictions, her tax bill likely would be more or about
the same. The typical homeowner pays more in annual property taxes
in Montgomery, Fairfax and Howard counties, and several hundred
dollars less in neighboring Anne Arundel, Charles and Calvert
counties.
