Article: J.H. Launders, Real Estate Broker, Dies

Joseph Harold "Hal" Launders, 88, a real estate broker and farmer in the Herndon area, died of congestive heart failure Sept. 18 at his home in Herndon.

After World War II, he bought a 300-acre farm in Herndon, where he raised Angus beef cattle until his death. The founder of J.H. Launders Real Estate of Herndon, he was a broker and an investor until shortly before his death.

He was a founding member and a past president of the Committee for Dulles, a citizen and business group that promotes the airport. In the 1950s, Mr. Launders sold land for Dulles.
