JACKSONVILLE, Fla. David Garrard could probably star in a
television series, "Everybody Loves The Backup Quarterback." Except
beginning tonight, it's already in reruns.
After leading the Jaguars to a 5-1 record in Byron Leftwich's
absence, Garrard is out of the limelight again. Although a backup
quarterback is always on call, Garrard might be called upon early if
Leftwich shows rust or if Leftwich's right ankle can't hold up to 60
minutes of football.
Local sports fans and talk shows have questioned Jaguars coach
Jack Del Rio's decision to start Leftwich tonight against the
Patriots, his first game action since Nov. 27, when he was injured
