Article: MILLIS MAN, 26, DROWNS IN NORFOLK WHILE CANOEING BOAT CAPSIZES; TWO MEN SURVIVE

Rescuers recovered the body of a 26-year-old Millis man yesterday morning who apparently drowned in an ice-cold Norfolk lake after taking a late-night boat ride.

Three men had been canoeing late Friday night on Populatic Lake when their boat capsized, according to Norfolk Fire Chief Coleman C. Bushnell. Two of the men survived and swam to shore. They were treated and refused additional medical help.

Anthony Melaragni's body was found in water 8 feet deep about 50 feet from the shore yesterday morning.

"One of the men said he could hear his friend behind him, and when he turned around his friend was gone," Bushnell said.
