RICHARD E. CROSS
Auto Company CEO
Richard Eugene Cross, 85, board chairman and chief executive
of American Motors Corp. from 1963 to 1966, died Aug. 31 in
Rochester Hills, Mich., after a heart attack.
He had been affiliated with the Detroit law firm of Cross,
Wrock, Miller & Vieson.
Mr. Cross, an original appointee to the Michigan State Civil
Rights Commission, marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
through Detroit after the 1967 riots. He led the United Negro
College Fund of Michigan for 20 years and helped found a Detroit
relief fund for families of police officers and firefighters killed
in the line of duty.
