The Baltimore Ravens are going through one of those
dog-ate-my-homework phases that even grown men making enormous
salaries experience. At least, they hope that's the problem.
In the NFL, homework is three full days of practice, in
classroom-like settings and on the field. Lapses almost always
result in failure during 16 weekly tests.
Coach Ted Marchibroda is not accepting the usually legitimate
football excuses, such as fatigue and minor injuries. He has said
that this team has playoff ability if it pays attention during the
week, and is using Sunday's game in Houston against the Oilers as a
gauge.
