BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine Maritime culture permeates the docks and
winding streets of this midcoast fishing village that is home to
artists and seafaring types drawn by the area's rich nautical
history.
Visitors swarm here for two midweek days later this month to enjoy
the Windjammer Days Festival, when the harbor is transformed into a
waterfront extravaganza with concerts, an antique boat parade, model
boat regatta, bountiful food concessions, and crafts fair all capped
off by fireworks over the inner harbor.
A rush of excitement greets the arrival of Maine's fully rigged
windjammers as they enter the harbor, sails raised and flags flying.
