As the process to make Devens a town moves forward, some of the
250 residents on the former Army base said they frequently feel like
forgotten people, overlooked by some voters in Ayer, Harvard, and
Shirley, the towns that share Devens land.
"Some residents of those towns don't realize that a community is
currently living and breathing at Devens," asserted Michael Boucher,
who, with his family, moved to Devens is early 2002 from Maynard. He
is chairman of the Devens Citizens Advisory Committee and a member of
the 15-member Devens Disposition Executive Board, which is preparing
to vote by Memorial Day on final plans for incorporating Devens as a
town in 2010.
