Since country superstar Faith Hill recorded three of McKenna's
intimate ballads on her last album, the Stoughton songwriter has
become almost as popular in Nashville as she is here. Asked to do a
four-night residency at Passim, McKenna (above) found intriguing ways
to share her spotlight. Tonight, she joins Mark Erelli, Jake
Armerding, Jabe Beyer, and Erin McKeown for a rambling jam of cover
songs by everyone from Nirvana to Johnny Cash, Patty Griffin to
Sting. Tomorrow, it's a regular concert, with sets by McKenna, twangy
delight Mary Gauthier (another Boston writer who struck gold in
Nashville), and Kristen Hall, who recently left her hot country band
