Article: Janet McArthur, 92, pioneering physician Dr. Janet McArthur, pioneer at Harvard Medical School

Janet W. McArthur, an endocrinologist who did pioneering research in the fields of gynecology and obstetrics and who was the first Massachusetts General Hospital woman physician to become a full professor at Harvard Medical School, died Oct. 6 at the Skilled Nursing Facility at North Hill in Needham. She was 92.

"There was no doubt that Janet McArthur was one of the pioneers in the field of women's health," said Dr. George Richardson, retired acting chief of the former Vincent Memorial Hospital at MGH.
