The White Sox, trying to bolster their bullpen, acquired P
Tony Castillo and IF Domingo Cedeno from the Blue Jays in exchange
for P Luis Andujar and a minor leaguer.
Castillo, 33, was 2-3 with one save and a 4.23 ERA in 40
relief appearances for Toronto.
"One of the things we were looking for is to get a veteran
guy," White Sox Manager Terry Bevington said. "We've had a lot of
problems in the seventh, eighth innings. He gives us an experienced
guy."
Cedeno, 27, was batting .280 with two home runs and 17 RBI in
77 games for Toronto. To make roster room, the White Sox optioned IF
Greg Norton and P Rich Sauveur to Class AAA Nashville.
