NUEVA CONCEPCION, Guatemala - On Sundays, hundreds of peasants travel east across the burning coastal plain of southern Guatemala, past the vast plantations that stretch from the volcanos to the Pacific, to see a rural priest who is widely considered one of the most powerful men in the country.
