NEWARK, Del. - An academic vice president at Boston
University yesterday was selected to be the University of
Delaware's 23d president.
A search committee recommended Russel C. Jones, 52, following
a nine-month hunt that included consideration of more than 200
candidates.
The 23 trustees unanimously approved the recommendation at a
special meeting here.
Jones will assume his new duties July 1, when he will replace
E.A. Trabant, 66, who has held the $110,000-a-year post for 19
years. Trabant announced in May that he would retire in June 1987.
