John W. Blakeney 3d, 66, of Newton, a retired business
manager at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, died Friday in
Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Mr. Blakeney, a lifelong Newton resident, graduated from
Boston College in 1941 and was pursuing graduate studies at Harvard
University when he joined the Marine Corps during World War II.
He earned the rank of lieutenant colonel as a fighter pilot
in the South Pacific. He received the Air Medal With Five Oak
Leaves and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mr. Blakeney recently retired from Brigham and Women's
Hospital, where he had worked for 30 years.
