Article: TENANTS SEEK WAYS TO BLOCK CONVERSIONS

LEXINGTON - In an attempt to keep their townhouse apartments from being turned into high-priced condominiums, more than 200 residents of the 150-unit Emerson Garden Apartment complex met yesterday with town officials and representatives of tenants' organizations.

"If this goes through, many people who have lived in this town a long time will be forced to leave," said Richard Eaton, a 26-year resident of Lexington, who has lived in the complex for the last several years.

The Emerson Garden Apartments, which makes up about 45 percent of the rental units in Lexington, is primarily a housing complex for elderly people and young families, said Rev. Walter Cuenin of the Lexington Clergy ...
