THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA -- Christoph von Dohnanyi, music
director, presented by the Wang Celebrity Series in
Symphony Hall last night.
Snow and sleet delayed but did not deter the Cleveland Orchestra
from arriving yesterday afternoon, and 90 percent of its audience
let no wet inconvenience keep it from Symphony Hall. It was a very
distinguished audience -- including Kurt Masur, Anja Silja, Craig
Smith and Peter Sellars, and the Cleveland Orchestra's associate
concertmaster-designate, Cecylia Arzewski. It was a pleasure to
note the presence of former Bostonian Timothy Pitts onstage in the
bass section.
