Article: STUDY DOWNPLAYS MILITARY LINK TO STATE'S ECONOMY

Pentagon spending in Massachusetts accounts for 7 percent of the state's economic activity, is concentrated in 16 cities and towns and is shared by fewer than 1 percent of all Bay State companies, according to a controversial state study released yesterday.

Cities with the largest share of the military dollar in Massachusetts are, in order, Lynn, Bedford, Andover, Wayland, Pittsfield, Lowell and Cambridge, according to the Division of Employment Security report.
