An ice sculpture with its carved basin filled with raw oysters
and clams makes a startling impressive buffet reception display,
and though the result is quite grand, you do not enlist the
services of a caterer in order to set it up.
What you do need is a sturdy 8-foot table; two pieces of 1 1/
2-inch-thick wood that will sit underneath the short ends of the
table so the legs do not sink into the ground; two white
tablecloths to fit the table; two buckets to catch the dripping
water from the ice; lots of greenery, shellfish, lemons, and
cocktail sauce; oyster-and clam-prying implements; and two capable
shuckers wearing gloves.
