Germany's Erik Zabel edged sprint specialist Mario Cipollini to
earn his third career Tour de France stage victory in today's
120.9-mile third stage.
France's Frederic Moncassin took the overall lead by earning
an eight-second time bonus for his third-place finish, moving ahead
of Alex Zulle, who is seven seconds back, and Evgeny Berzin, 10
seconds back.
Five-time defending champion Miguel Indurain of Spain is in
sixth place, 19 seconds back, within easy striking distance.
Moncassin earned the yellow jersey marking the overall leader
on the day the tour ended in his wife's hometown. He held his
daughter in his arms after race officials presented him with the
