Why can't Bob Dole be my Bob Dole? Why does he insist on being his Bob Dole? My Bob Dole is reasonably conservative, old and therefore wise, the embodiment of Midwestern values, a Carl Sandburg sort of guy (he sometimes didn't get it right, either) who was brave as a soldier and braver still as a wounded vet, and who is the very model of rectitude.
