An occasional listing of works by area authors and/or of
particular local interest.
In conjunction with the reopening of its Evans Wing, the Museum
of Fine Arts has produced "Masterpiece Paintings from the Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston" (Abrams, $35). Its 125 color reproductions, with
accompanying commentaries by the museum's curatorial staff, begin
with a trecento triptych by Duccio and end with a 1973 Alice Neel
portrait. In between come 500 years of masterpieces by van der
Weyden, Poussin, Watteau, Turner, Courbet, Monet, Renoir, Sargent
and others.
