The price of greatness is special attention.
Ray Bourque will pay it in the first round of the playoffs --
and for as long as the Bruins live this spring -- starting
Wednesday against the Montreal Canadiens. He will thrive on it.
The first designated Bourque-checker probably will be Claude
Lemieux. But Montreal's more likely playoff plan is to play team
defense against Boston's outstanding defenseman, with Lemieux being
the first one on him. "You can't check a D," says Steve Kasper.
"The more they try to check him, the more room there will be for us
forwards."
Says Bourque, "If they come at me hard, it's what I want,
because I'll come back hard, baby. I think they'll lay off me and ...
