SAN FRANCISCO - Surgeon General C. Everett Koop has urged
the nation's school board members to adopt a sex education
curriculum that teaches students about self-worth, sexual
abstinence and "the beauty of faithful, monogamous relationships."
In an address on Saturday to members of the National School
Boards Association, Koop also said that school systems have "no
scientific or medical reason for isolating persons with the AIDS
virus from school." To adopt a policy that prohibits persons with
AIDS from school "is not a public health decision," he said.
