The Mormon Church center on Hunter Mill Road in Oakton is
locked and empty on Monday nights. There are none of the youth
activities, Bible studies or other events that take place during the
rest of the week.
That is because the rapidly growing, Utah-based denomination
-- with almost 50,000 adherents in this area and nearly 9.4 million
worldwide -- has set aside the first night of the work week as a
time for families to be at home together.
No overtime at the office and no telephone interruptions at
home. No skipping out to attend a PTA meeting or watch a favorite
television show. Instead Mom, Dad and the children sing, pray and
play together, then study the Gospel or simply catch up ...
