WASHINGTON - The Reagan administration said yesterday it
will revise official statements about an Iranian opposition group
but foresees no change in US policy of withholding support for the
group, which has been accused of terrorism.
The State Department has long steered clear of the People's
Mujahedeen Organization of Iran, even though two House members say
the United States should at least talk with the group as part of a
strategy of reaching out to Iranians opposed to the government of
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
"We're going to issue a new statement" on the Mujahedeen,
said a department official, who spoke on condition he not be
identified.
